PrestaShop 1.7. How to manage currencies and set a default one

Add a new currency
  1. In your PrestaShop admin panel go to  International -> Localization section: 
  2. Choose the Currencies tab. At the top of the page click the Add new currency button: 
  3. You need to set the following options there:
    • Currency – the name of the currency.
    • Exchange rate – the rate has to be defined according to your shop’s default currency. If you don’t know the exchange rate, leave it as 1, and when the currency is created, update the exchange rates by clicking Update exchange rates.
    • Status – enable/disable the currency. 
  4. Click the Save button to confirm the action.
Change the default currency
  1. Go to International -> Localization section. In Localization tab find the Configuration section. For the Default currency option choose the currency you want to be used by default: 
  2. Click the Save button to save the changes.
Update the currency rates
  1. Go to International -> Localization section. Choose the Currencies tab. Click the Update exchange rates button at the top-right hand side of the page: 
  2. Refresh your website to see the changes.
